If you are trying to add a Student through scanning a QR Code and it is failing while others are successful, you may be shown an error message like the one below:
An error occurred while attempting to join the classroom via a link. Please try again or ask your teacher to add you manually.
Why is this happening?
This usually occurs when the Student is logged into an account that doesn't match the correct Login method that your school has set up, even if the email is correct!
For example, your students may have Google accounts set up, which are also used as their Apple ID emails.
If your Admin has selected Apple as the OIDC login method for Goodnotes, your Students may be confused and click Google as their login method and enter their information.
In this scenario, they would be logged in but not able to join your organisation.
How to resolve
The resolution for this issue is simple!
- Ask your Student to perform a Manual Backup of any private documents they have created since being logged in
- Log out of the currently logged-in account by tapping on their initials, heading to their profile and selecting sign out
- Log in using the correct OIDC method for your school
- Ask them to scan and join again
If you are still experiencing an issue, please reach out to support with information about what you are seeing when this fails and ask the student to export some Diagnostic Data for us to investigate. To do this, please open the Goodnotes menu in the library view > View Profile > Account Settings > Export Diagnostic Data.
