Create your first Class Folder

This article covers Goodnotes Education Plan features only. Free Tier users may not have access to these functionalities. To upgrade, contact your institution's IT administrator.

Class Folders are the foundation of organizing your teaching materials in Goodnotes Education. They allow you to structure Lessons, Assignments, and resources for each of your classes, keeping everything organized and easily accessible for both you and your Students.

What is a Class Folder?

A Class Folder is a dedicated space where you organize all materials for a specific class. When you create a Class Folder, you can invite Students to join, share Lessons and Assignments, and manage all class-related content in one place. Each Class Folder operates independently, making it easy to keep your advanced Biology class separate from your introductory Chemistry class.

Create a New Class Folder

To create your first Class Folder:

  1. Open Goodnotes and navigate to the Library View
  2. Tap the School Tab in the Sidebar
  3. Tap the New + icon in the Class Folder View
  4. Select Create Class Folder
  5. Enter a name for your Class (for example, "Biology 101" or "Grade 9 English")
  6. Add students now from the list, or later on!
  7. Choose a colour for your Class Folder
  8. Tap Create

Your new Class Folder will now appear in the Sidebar, ready for you to add materials and invite Students.

Add Students to Your Class Folder

Once your Class Folder is created, you can select Students from your Organization's Student List to add them to the Class or ask them to scan a QR code to join.

For detailed instructions, see How to Add Students to Your Class Folder.
