Fully integrated within the main Goodnotes app, it transforms Goodnotes into a powerful educational platform that helps teachers and students streamline their workflows, better understand class learning progress, and spend more time actually teaching!
What is the difference between Goodnotes Education and Goodnotes?
Goodnotes Education lives inside the main Goodnotes app - there's no separate download required. Both teachers and students use the same Goodnotes app, but teachers gain access to additional classroom tools and features that students don't see. This unified approach makes it easy to guide students since everyone shares the same familiar interface.

Goodnotes Education adds specialized teaching tools on top of the standard Goodnotes experience, including Class Folders, teaching modes, assignment management, and administrative controls - all completely free for educational institutions.
How do I join my institution?
To access Goodnotes Education features, you need to be invited to your school's organization. Your school administrator will send you an email invitation, or you may be able to join by scanning a Class QR code if your school has enabled this option. Once you accept the invitation, you'll have access to all Education features within your existing Goodnotes app.
What AI features does Goodnotes Education have?
Goodnotes Education includes powerful AI tools designed for educational use, such as Compare to Model Answer, which can analyze and group student responses based on their similarity to predefined correct solutions. These AI features are integrated into teaching workflows to enhance grading efficiency and allow you to focus more on student development.

What happened to Goodnotes Classroom?
Goodnotes Classroom was a separate app we previously offered for teachers. As of October 2024, we've unified the experience by integrating all classroom functionality directly into Goodnotes. Teachers no longer need to download a separate Classroom app - everything is now available within Goodnotes when you're part of a school organization.
I was using Goodnotes Classroom - what do I need to do?
If you were previously using the Classroom app:
If you already have Goodnotes installed with the same account: You can now access all classroom functionality directly in Goodnotes. Documents and data will not automatically all sync, see below.
If you don't have Goodnotes installed: Download Goodnotes and you'll be able to access all your Classroom features there, Documents and data will not automatically all sync, see below.
Can I sync files between my old Classroom app and Goodnotes 6?
Unfortunately, automatic syncing between the old Classroom app and Goodnotes is not available. You'll need to manually export documents from the Classroom app and import them into Goodnotes. The Classroom app will show a pop-up with step-by-step instructions to help you with this process or you can read this article: Migrating from Goodnotes Classroom to Goodnotes
Why did you change from a separate Classroom app to integrated Education features?
We unified the experience to eliminate confusion and provide a smoother workflow. Now, teachers can seamlessly switch between personal and classroom use within one app, and students always use the same interface their teachers are using, making support and guidance much easier.
