This article covers Goodnotes Education Plan features only. Free Plan users do not have access to Class Folders and other Education-only features. To upgrade, contact your institution's IT administrator.
If a student is unable to see a Class Folder or its lessons, this could be due to Goodnotes Education not yet synchronizing the recent addition to the Class Folder.
For first-time users
In cases where the student is being added to a Class Folder for the first time and no Class Folder or School name is visible in the Sidebar, they should use the Restore Lessons function within the Gear Menu under Settings > Troubleshooting.
After restoring lessons:
- Your Goodnotes Cloud connection to your School Organization will be reactivated
- Your School Organization will appear in the app's sidebar
- Any Class Folders you have access to will be displayed under your Schools Organization
For Students enrolled in multiple Class Folders
If students can see their existing Class Folders in the sidebar but not a newly added one, ask them to sign out and sign back in to refresh their session.
If the new Class Folder still doesn't appear after signing in again, follow the advanced troubleshooting steps available here:
Are other students seeing the Class Folder?
If YES (only one student affected):
- Ask the affected student to delete and reinstall Goodnotes
- When they log back in, make sure they don't use Hide My Email

If NO (multiple students affected):
- Create a new Class Folder with the same group of students and create a new lesson
- Check if this lesson syncs to all students
